Yacht Charter destinations: (France- Corsica- Macinaggio, Bonifacio, Ajaccio ) Corsica is a wild, solitary island with ancient mountain villages, and has an abundance of dreamy harbours and secluded inlets, often only accessible by sea. If you were to sail around Corsica, you would see very varied landscapes: the mountainous terrain of Cap Corse, inlets lined by glowing red rocks on the Western coast, steep chalk cliffs and deep fjords in the South, and long sandy beaches on the East coast between Bastia and Solenzara. The Corsican sailing area includes, most importantly, the islands that lie in the Straits of Bonifacio, with a total coastline of 300 nautical miles. In this windy area there are 12 yacht harbours, 20 completely safe anchorage's, usually near restaurants, as well as 50 further anchorage's that are ideal for a lunch or swimming breaks, but not necessarily safe enough to spend the night.

Macinaggio

Macinaggio – the port and yacht harbour:
The port of Macinaggio is the Northern most harbour on the East coast of Corsica. It has been extended significantly in recent years. Steering into the port by day is easy, since the town is the only cluster of houses in the area. Yachts first moor at the quay of the Eastern jetty and are then assigned a mooring place. Anchoring is not allowed in the harbour. There are mooring lines, electricity and water for all berths, and a a filling station for petrol and diesel at the head of the eastern jetty. Sanitary facilities are in the building of the port authorities. Whilst moored, why not explore the Cap Corse and its charming mountain villages with a hire car?

Bonifacio
 
Bonifacio – the port and the yacht harbour:
The historical city of Bonifacio is located at the end of fjord-like inlet in the South of Corsica. Its port is one of the most charming natural harbours in the Mediterranean. It is perfectly protected, and can be steered into in any weather. In daylight, the buildings and churches on the peninsula to the South of the harbour are a useful point of orientation. In the inner part of the harbour there are a number of quays, at which you can moor. The Yacht Club, which has a restaurant, toilets and showers, is located at the northern quay. At the Eastern and Southern piers there are water taps and filling stations, as well as restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Repair and servicing can be done in the Centre Nautique de Bonifacio. If all places in the harbour are full during the season, or if you would prefer a quieter anchoring ground, there are several good anchorage's in the Northern Cala de al Catena Bay. Whilst moored, you should definitely explore the grottos in the chalk cliffs with your dinghy.

Ajaccio:

Ajaccio – the city:
The Corsican Capital on the wild West coast of the island still has its original flair. Restaurants and cafés, in typical French style, provide delicious refreshments and food, and there are ferry and flight connections to the mainland.

Ajaccio – the port and yacht harbour:
Ajaccio is the largest trading port on the Western coast of Corsica, but also offers a good harbour for yachts. It is said to be a completely secure harbour. Steering into the harbour is not a problem by day or night, and is possible in any weather. Yachts are usually anchored in the Southern most basin, either on the quay on the city side, or behind the jetty, where there are a couple of floating pontoons reserved for yachts.
The Northern harbour, Port de Paisance de L’Amirauté, was developed into a sport boat harbour. There are about 60 berths reserved for transit yachts in this harbour.
All berths are fitted with electricity and water supply. There is a shopping centre about 500m north of the basin. All supplies can be obtained in the city, which also has hotels and restaurants of all categories.
